Turns out Sharon Osbourne can keep her day job as a cohost of The Talk. VH1 previously announced plans to reboot the smash MTV reality series The Osbournes — which followed the rock royalty’s matriarch, dad Ozzy, and kids Kelly and Jack — but confirmed Monday, April 27 the project has been scrapped once and for all.
“We are no longer talking to the Osbournes about a series; that’s not going to happen,” Susan Levison, the Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Production at the network, told The Hollywood Reporter. “We wish we could have worked it out, but it just didn’t come together for us. The family has been absolutely lovely and we wish them the best. We’d love to figure out a way to work with them at some point in the future.”
The network‘s announcement comes five months after the family’s matriarch, 62, hinted on The Talk that the family would reunite for six-to-eight new episodes.

“It’s been so long since we’ve been seen as a family and our family has grown,” Sharon said at the time. (The series, which ran for four seasons and was MTV’s most-watched series in its 2002 freshman season, focused on Jack and Kelly, as their eldest daughter, Aimee, declined to be on camera.)
Following VH1’s announcement, Kelly Osbourne, 30, posted a Twitter message that inferred she was out of the loop in pickup negotiations. “As much as you love VH1, the last time I checked, I never signed up to do a show with them. Weird!” she wrote late Tuesday evening. Kelly famously made headlines in February when she quit E!’s Fashion Police following colleague Giuliana Rancic‘s controversial Oscars commentary about Zendaya Coleman.
