Get ready, folks, because today is one hell of an exciting New Music Friday! Not only do we get new music by CelebMix favorites such as 5 Seconds of Summer, Justin Bieber and Adele (yes, the singer has finally dropped her wonderful ballad onto us all today), but we also get a brand new song by the up-and-coming Norwegian pop singer Astrid S.

Astrid S is a former Norwegian Idol contestant but has, since her participation two years ago, evolved pretty well. Last year, she released the stunningly haunting song “2 am”, which received even more recognition this year after being remixed by Matoma. Since then, medias all over the world have proclamed her as “Norway’s next great pop export”. She is even nominated for an MTV EMA award right now as “Best Norwegian Artist”.

The new track comes after a year full of collaborations for Astrid; she has been an extremely busy bee and collaboratied with both Avicii on his Waiting For Love Remix and earlier this year even with Shawn Mendes on his debut album (you might have heard her feature on”Air”). Thankfully, the 18-year old pop singer-songwriter has now finally released a song of her own again, called “Hyde”.

“Hyde” is a beautifully understated synth-pop ballad that seamlessly blends Astrid’s distinctive voice with the sleek, chilled-out production. But the part about it all is the fabulous climax right at the end that elevates the song into something even better than it already was. Prove me wrong (and I’m just making a wild suggestion here) but this song feels like the result of what indie-pop princess Halsey could come up with if she decided to go for the “Netflix and chill” sound.

It is quite a stunner, this song.

If you want to listen to this beauty yourself, I put the Spotify link down below so you can check it out (but you can obviously buy it on any digitial retailer too if that’s what you’d like to do).
