Kaiser Permanente will host two more Parenting After Tragedy classes in Lahaina to help parents understand and address the emotional and psychological needs of their keiki following the devastating August wildfires.

Kaiser Permanente will host two more “Parenting After Tragedy” classes in Lahaina to help parents understand and address the emotional and psychological needs of their keiki following the devastating August wildfires.

The free classes will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday and Nov. 1 at the Royal Lahaina’s Hale Piilani Room. Registration is not required.

Participants will learn about typical emotional responses children may exhibit after a tragedy, responses based on age, what parents can do to support and guide their children, when to seek additional help, coping skills for children and additional resources to further support healing journeys, according to a Kaiser news release.

The classes are open to any parent in the Maui community. Children cannot attend.

Kaiser said it is adding the classes after seeing the need during three classes held earlier this month at the Royal Lahaina.
