Talking about her father Dr. Bong Wui, a Texas-based doctor went to walk the wedding aisle with DanTam (Ylan’s mother) in Vietnam in the early 1970s. The other family member comprises Ylan’s elder sister, Vy, and brother, Dan who belong to Vietnamese descent. 

Upon the arrival of the eldest child, Bong went to study at Tulane University in New Orleans. Back in March 2020, she became COVID-19 positive. Five days later, her husband became sick with mild fever, achiness, and exhaustion. Similarly, their kid’s body temperature would be 99.5 or 100 degrees. Although the medical teams said no for her husband to test for the virus, the couple chose to isolate them away from the kids which were heart-wrenching. Sometime later, they recovered.
